There is still time to register for the 29th ISES Solar World Congress 2009 that takes place from 11 – 14 October at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. This biennial congress, which is being held in South Africa for the first time, has attracted great interest from the international scientific community with delegates flocking from 72 countries to either present - or catch up on - the latest advances in renewable energy technology.
Approximately 500 delegates comprising scientists, engineers, architects, climatologists and a host of other professionals will participate in the discussions that encompass five broad themes on Resource Assessment, Solar Heating and Cooling, Solar Electricity, Solar Buildings, and Solar Energy and Society. 145 speakers from 52 countries will present 225 oral and poster presentations over four days.
The congress is expected to boost awareness among the scientific community, trade and consumers about the important role that the innovative use of renewable energy resources can play in alleviating the energy crisis and addressing global warming. This congress will also help to set the scene for the World Summit on climate change that will take place in Copenhagen this December.
