
Yeshiva College Bridging UnitYeshiva College offers a Bridging Unit for children with learning potential, yet experience mild, generalised learning difficulties and therefore, require focused, more personalised and dedicated teaching methods. The Yeshiva Bridging Unit currently caters for Grade 1, 2 and 3. The aim of the bridging unit is to assist each student in reaching his/her full potential. Bridging unit teachers focus on the emotional and creative development of each child, through the active boosting of self esteem. Therefore enabling each child to have faith in their ability, and despite challenges, the courage to succeed.Each bridging class has a maximum of 12 learners in order to ensure that the children get the required individual attention. The unit’s objective is to mainstream the students as soon as possible and therefore not every child who enters the bridging unit in Grade 1 will necessarily go through the entire bridging unit. The classes follow the regular syllabus of the mainstream units in both general studies and Limudei Kodesh. Wherever possible, students are also integrated within the mainstream classes for sports, davening etc. The application process for the bridging unit follows a strict protocol. Each candidate must have a full psychological and educational assessment in order to be considered for the unit. Bridging unit teachers for general studies are all qualified remedial teachers and prep time is done in conjunction with all other teachers in the foundation phase. |
