Yeshiva Sports Parent Committee

The Yeshiva Sports parents committee (YSPC) is a body that was formalized in April 0f 2009. The objective of the committee is to officially represent the parent body in the realms of decision making when it comes to the management of sport in the entire school.

Such bodies exist in various formats in other schools and play a vital support role as a sounding board to ensure that not only ALL stakeholders are consulted in the decision making process but that decision itself is the best decision that can be made.

We currently have a core group of YSPC members but it is not limited to this:
Mike Rod; Marc Romberg; Glenn Lazarus; Melanie Kozinsky; Carol Setzer ; Nicky Barnes; Robin Sher; Alan Da Costa; Sharit Krengel; Anthony Kur

The aim is to have the entire campus from Grade R to Matric represented effectively in the sports arena. The YSPC should also play an innovative role and continue to offer input into how issues can be better addressed.
One of the most essential roles of the YSPC is a communication role into the parental body ensuring the correct dissemination of information but also to short circuit the rumour mill which, if not stopped with the correct information, can be very detrimental to work done. No decision is taken in the sports department to disadvantage any one person or grouping intentionally and we hope that through the YSPC we will get more and more decisions correct.

The committee was very ably led for the first year by David Ronthal, who has since had to resign his position due to a conflict as David is on the Board of governors for the school as well. As yet we have no official chairperson.
In time the YSPC will need to assist with the implementation of a communication network in sport age groups to assist with sponsorships and transport.
