Sustainable Energy Society of Southern Africa
The Sustainable Energy Society of Southern Africa (SESSA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and increasing the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The inter-disciplinary nature of SESSA’s activities attracts the membership of industry, scientists, researchers, developers and the general public.
Founded in 1974, SESSA is the oldest renewable energy society in Africa and one of 50 national sections of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). It is also the duly appointed African office of ISES.

Foundation for Professional Development
The Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) in association with SESSA is organising the ISES Solar World Congress 2009 and the Renewable Energy Expo. The FPD will plan and manage all logistical activities for both events.
The FPD Conference Management Department employs experienced staff, contracts with key experts and utilises state-of-the-art event management systems.
This Department organises some of the largest conferences in South Africa, such as the biennial National AIDS Conference, the 4th of which will be held in Durban from 31 March to 3 April 2009 and the Internal Auditors Conference in August.
