Eskom is the host sponsor for the ISES Solar World Congress 2009. By supporting this Congress, Eskom shows its commitment to the exploration and expansion of renewable energy sources, not only in South Africa, but also on the continent.

Eskom sees its sponsorship of the ISES Solar World Congress and the Renewable Energy Expo as a part of their renewable energy strategy to increase additional stakeholder relationships and technical partnerships towards achieving its objectives.

Eskom has a renewable energy strategy that recognises international and regional drivers, and national priorities, which includes a combination of alternate power generating technologies (e.g. wind, biomass, hydro, wave, ocean current and large scale solar) and electricity substitution technologies (e.g. mainly solar water heating).
